What is the difference between revenue income and capital income?

tap to reveal answer

Answer

**Revenue income** — earned in the normal course of trading (e.g. sales, rent received, commission). Credited to the income statement. **Capital income** — a one-off receipt outside normal trading (e.g. proceeds from selling a non-current asset, a new loan, owner introducing capital). Goes to the disposal account or capital account, not the income statement.
